My Birthday Presents

So I asked for shelves and I was super excited to get them, but once I got them I was worried they were too big and I had no clue as to what they would look like, so I got some help on what they would look like.
First I looked at the front view...

Then the side view...

Decided they were too wide and I needed skinner shelves, but still the same length, so back they will go and hopefully I can find other ones that will work better.

Birthday Weekend

We started the weekend with hockey at the Spokane Arena.  Surprisingly, I had to get my camera checked out before I could take it into the arena and thankfully they approved it.  Sadly, there were all these rules about what I could and couldn't photograph.  So here is what I could get of our fun and awesome night.

Between the periods, they played musical chairs.

Drinking through the Decades with Vivian

When I moved away, one of the first things my friend (Vivian) said to me was, "You're not going to be here for my birthday! And now who is going to plan it?"  I told her not to worry.  I had things covered and I would still plan it.
As this year, she was turning 50, I thought it would be fun to celebrate her birthday having something to do with the decades of her life.  So the plan was born: We could celebrate her birthday by Drinking through the Decades with Viv.  We would travel to 5 different houses, partaking in a drink at each house and an appetizer that went with each decade.  So the first house was the 60s, then we hit the 70s, 80s, 90s, and would finish at her house celebrating the 00s.  Sadly, the person who was going to host the 90s was unavailable, so we actually did the last two decades at Viv's house.  Everyone would also be asked to dress in their favorite decade.
The people who hosted, blew me away with all they put into the decorations, food, and beverages they contributed.
At the first house we celebrated with her cake.

Here is some of the dressed up guests at the first house.

Our party of 12,  kept going after this first house, but many of the people brought and were using their camera phones, so I choose to let them take photos throughout the night, so I only have pics from the first house.
The birthday girl twins.  They share their birthday and they even came dressed the same.  Total coincidence.

The 3 of us!

I'm so glad that I was able to plan this for her.  She is one of the most amazing people I met at Daniel.  She gives you everything her heart can give.  I'm so happy that we didn't just leave our friendship at school, but we have built memories with girls weekends, baseball games, sushi nights, lumpia parties, and travel trips to Spokane to see my sis and her daughter.  I wish she was with me in Spokane as she knew how my classroom worked and she is so much fun to be with. I don't know what my life would be like without her.

Birthday Party Re-cap

It's been just a week since my birthday and it seems soo long ago. I had such a great time and it all came off so perfectly.  You saw the start of it with the score card...People were asked to dress up and some did, but most came straight from work so many were in their work clothes.

We all met up at No Que No, a Mexican restaurant, for dinner and our first drink.  There were about 11 of us for the first hole, which had a par 1.  Then we walked to the next hole for a drink and met up with 5 more people.

Drinks there were downed quickly, but a huge discussion ensued as to what consisted of a stroke: was it a gulp, a swallow, a drink...it went on and on until I settled it.  We then were off to the RAM, Mama Stortinis, and Trappers all in Kent Station.  While there we picked up 3 more people.  Everyone got their required glass of water and drinks.  Some of us even got sushi.  Then off we went to Pied Piper where there was karaoke and a packed bar.  After that bar many people went home as the next bar had a great walk ahead of us.
Monte Carlo and jello-shots were up next then to Meeker Street Bar and Grill.  While there we found out that the last bar we were headed too was closed! (It wasn't even 1:30 yet) so we went to breakfast at Sharis.
Thanks to all that came out and participated. I had a wonderful time and a magical birthday.

Guess Whose Birthday It Was?

Not mine, but my bestest friend! Yes, it was last month, but I didn't get to give her her gift until she got here. She got this tower

and a starter kit for her Crazy Cat lady. Heee!  More on what she got me later...

Froyo

Love that when I went to get birthday froyo (aka frozen yogurt), they had my favorite flavors. Macadamia Nut White Chocolate Cookie, Birthday Cupcake Batter, and Guava Grapefruit Sorbet.

I didn't mix them all together...I got mostly the first two and just a splash of the sorbet.  It was yummy and topped with granola and a bit of caramel. That is it.

Birthday Love

I got some serious birthday love this year and it really made my day...well my whole week really!  One friend planned a birthday breakfast for me.  I love that my friends know me so well as to plan a breakfast for me.

Another friend who spent the week bringing me a gift each day.  And my teaching partner, who wasn't there on my birthday, set up a fun scavenger hunt for me to go on.  She sent me all over the school to see many of my friends and in the end I was had some great gifts to keep up my crafting ways.

The presents:

Now on to some crafting...the best part is I didn't have to make a garland for my fireplace for Valentines Day.  I just used the hearts and it looks fantastic.
