Matching Today

My coffee cup, which was my first painting project at Paint Yourself Silly was totally matching my skirt/dress today! I had to share!

Hope you aren't blinded by my white legs!

Home Remedies

After last weeks camping, I rolled out the tent and the mattress again to begin a Lovefest weekend.  The tent and tarp still smelled like campfire, but the mattress smelled like mildew/mold.  I couldn't believe that it was covered in it.

The top of the mattress was never wet.  The bottom yes, but never the top.
Luckily I was in the best spot ever for remedies to clean it.  Out popped my Aunty Stacey with her spray bottle and some hydrogen peroxide and I got to work.  Spray spraying it!   Then then sun worked it's magic and in a few hours the dark spots were replaced by light grey marks. So I took it in my tent and went to pump it up with the pump that was in the bed, but the batteries were missing! Dang! Luckily my brother-in-law had a pump and I didn't have to go and buy batteries.  Then my tent and bed were finally ready!

Slipping By

Sometimes it feels like everything is just slipping by and I never have time to catch up with it.  Maybe one day when I'm old, I can catch up with everything I've missed.
One thing I don't want to miss, is wishing everyone a Happy May Day!

Whatever happened to just a fun day when people bring flowers to each other's door step or May Day being  Lei Day?  Now there are protests and looting and damage being done to store fronts.  What happened to simpler times?

Blood Pressure Check

For awhile, my doctor has been telling me that I needed to chart my blood pressure because it seems to run all over the place when I'm in her office (low, low, high, low, high, high, low, low).  Therefore, with my marathon coming up, I thought it might be a good plan to see where it was and what it was doing.  So right before I went to Mexico, I went to my nurse at school and she took it.  She wasn't very excited about what she saw. I think she was actually pretty unnerved.  I was at 143/97.  I wasn't really nervous, because I knew that I was all over the place.  The nurse tried to stress to me how important it was to get it checked with my doctor and I told her I would….after Mexico.
While we were in Mexico a student doctor was roaming the beach asking people if they wanted their blood pressure checked.   I though, "Oh hell no! Not here…they will probably tell me I'm going to die."  Most of the other people in our group got theirs checked, because there was a boy with us, who had diabetes and they wanted to show him that they would get theirs checked too.  Most everyone had normal pressures, but one of the sister's to the birthday girl had one very close to the one I had before I left for Mexico.  Everyone was alarmed and wanted her to get it checked again and maybe even go to the clinic.  I just sat on the beach and breathed in and out hoping mine wouldn't be that high when I got back.
Well, I came back from Mexico and the nurse had gotten me a new toy.  It's a wrist watch blood pressure checker.

I took it and it had dropped to 134/80 and since has dropped consistently.  I'm a bit nervous that it will go up again, so I'm going to continue to check it, but I'm just really glad that it's down for now.

Really?!?! It's Cereal!

It's just two commercials about cheerios, which is about families, love, and breakfast.

Why does it have to be a racial thing?

Thankfulness Day 11

 Happy Veterans Day!

Thanks to all who have served to keep us free.  Thanks to all who gave their lives so we could live a better one.  Thanks to all those families and friends who are at home supporting those abroad.

Facebook Updates

Some days I have multiple updates that I want to post of Facebook, but I find I get annoyed with those people that post multiple updates on Facebook, so then I don't post them, even though I really want to.  So they end up here....

What's on your mind?
  • Whoo hooo! 2 Broke Girls episodes can be seen on CBS.com again!
  •  I'm getting a new neighbor.  He's a musician and stays up late at night, hopefully he doesn't mind my blender at 5am.
  • Loving the crunching of leaves under my feet on walks.
  • Saturday = Football, Sunday = Football, Monday - Thursday = BOO!!
  • I wish I was in my bed sleeping not at work.
  • I love my computer and being able to catch up on all the shows I missed over the week.
  • Hopes to be able to relax some, because I feel like I've been going non stop.

Just an FYI!

When going to the bathroom in a port-a-potty, if the hand sanitizer you use doesn't evaporate quickly, it IS NOT hand sanitizer, it's SOAP and is supposed to be used with the sink that is also in the port-a potty! hahahahahahhaah!

Lovin this Sunday, Because There is No Work Monday Following It!

It was a

kind of day. I just wish the pool would have been open to drink it at.  I also did a little golfing and got heckled by 2 different people while playing.  Man! A girl can't win.  I also had a hard time keeping it straight.  Plus I did some pintresting, running errands, and shopping.

WINCO Shopping

Never shop at Winco Sunday Nights!!! This man cut 3 people off including me to get to a lane, just to the right of me, then decided that line was too long and then pretended he was supposed to be in my lane. Then a lane to the left of me opened and he spilled into that lane almost running over the lady in front of him. Slow down man! You move too fast!!

Just Tuesday

I must be waiting for the weekend, cause this week is soooo super long! It is close to the end of school (11 days left) and I have a fun weekend coming up (Mariners and Breakfast with Nikkii,) so maybe that is it. Or maybe it's that next week is Camp Week for my kids (I teach a camping unit as many of my kids don't get out in the outdoors, so I bring it to them. We talk about nature vs. city, set up tents, talk and make constellations, make campfires and learn about fire safety, make art using nature, and make food that is typically eaten when in the outdoors.) The kids love it and it's the first time I'm doing it with my 4th graders. Plus my bestie is going to be here for 2 days and I'm taking that time off to have fun with her.
So....
Dear Weekend,
Can you please get here soon! I'm waiting!!! I want to have a fun weekend and do all the fun things that are going to happen next week. Not that this week is has been or is going to be bad or anything. I mean I did have a wedding shower, saw 21 Jump Street (hilarious!), will have a massage, and hopefully will get dinner made for me. But come on!! It's only Tuesday, really?!?!
Love, me

Stress Eating

Never ever did I think that I did this, but today some how it happened. Work is crazy with MTI groups, goals being due, and many other drama people. I knew I was going to frozen yogurt on my cousin date, so I told myself not to each any junk today...but it got away from me. I had peanut butter m&ms, 2 cookies, and the frozen yogurt.
Now my tummy doesn't feel well!
Yet when I got home, more stress hit and I wanted to do it all over again, but I didn't thank goodness. Even better, tomorrow, I'm going to the gym and then I'm going to do the Walk-a-thon with the kids at school

Can't Always Do It Alone!

I'm a strong.
I'm confident.
I'm independent.
And yesterday, I realized that I can't always do it on my own. While hiking to the book , I was brought to my knees as I forgot how to breathe, a simple in and out and in and out. It is something I have always taken for granted, always known how to do, yet as I was I was hiking it was something I couldn't do.
After hiking for about an hour, the hike was getting harder and starting to go directly up the side of the hill. I had had trouble breathing as my nose was stuffed up, but this was different. I stopped and tried to breathe and air would go in a little, but barely come out. I tried over and over again and it just got harder and harder to breathe. I tried to calm myself and breathe in, but after awhile, nothing was going in. Then the tears started and my stuffy nose got stuffier and I could breathe less and less. I tired to look up at the sky to get my bearings, but the tears kept coming and my breathing ability was barely there.
It was so scary (even now, as I think about it, it brings tears for my eyes.)
I, then became doubtful in my ability. My ability to complete the hike, my ability in completing my triathlon, my ability to breathe again.
I felt weak.
I felt scared.
I needed help.
Good thing I wasn't alone...cause I would have died.
He used his voice to tell me to breathe in and out. He breathed with me. He used his body against mine, so I could feel his breathing and could match my breathing to it. After awhile I was able to finally catch my breath, but then there was a bit of tears as I was so disappointed in myself and I couldn't believe that that stupid hill was getting the best of me.
I pulled it together and tried the hill again as he set the pace. A short distance up, it happened all over again as I couldn't breathe again and so again, he used his voice to tell me to breathe in and out. He breathed with me. He used his body against mine, so I could feel his breathing and could match my breathing to it and again I was in tears. I was such a mess....
Yet again I had to rely on someone else.
For the rest of the way up, we had to stop every few feet to make sure I was breathing. And for the rest of the way up, I felt like I was letting him down, as I could tell he just wanted to make it to the top, even though he said otherwise.
He had helped me to breathe again.
He wanted me to finish.
He had confidence in me.
He believed in me.
And it was a good thing, cause I wouldn't have made it to the top without him.
Conquering that hike was an amazing experience in realizing that I can't always do things on my own, but in surrounding myself with people that can help, I can conquer anything.

Paitence

Mine has been soo short lately that it seems that everyone is getting it. No one is exempt.
And after they get it, it's interesting to see the face of the person. I feel bad and am wondering where the yelling came from and the kids (mostly) are wondering the same thing. Although the sales clerks and waitresses don't get this same look, they probably just think I'm a b* word.
It probably has to do with the stupid cough I've had forever and now is effecting my walking upstairs and working out, or my constant sinus headache, or the horrible sleep I've been getting cause I can't breathe, or the administration at my work, or the ineffective communication, or ....
I think if I got better things would be better. Let's pray! For everyone's sake!

Speaking of patience...I just got a Christmas present from my best friend (hee hee) The sad thing is that although it was super cute, it didn't fit, so I took it back and got a sweater

and still have money left to buy more stuff. The sweater goes down to my knees and I'm going to wear it with my boots and other things.
