Boo to the Madness!!!!

The Madness this year is crazy!!! My bracket was done before the Final Four was even decided. Nuts!!! I guess picking Notre Dame to take it all was a little presumptuous, but I did think that pitting them against Ohio State was a good choice, thinking at least I would get points for Ohio State, but alas they lost too.
This year though, we had 9 people in our group, Let the Dancing Begin, and I didn't finish last, YES!!! I ended up 4th, but was in second places for a long time. I did so well at the beginning picking 23 winners out of the second round games (possible 32) missing only 9 games, but then at the Elite Eight I only had 3 teams going into it.
I finished with 550 pts. and was 67.1 % correct.
So now I root for Shaka and the VCU Rams.

Madness Update

So yesterday was brutal to me. I only picked 20% correct and am 3, 795,760, but the worst part is that I set up a group with some friends and family and I'm on the bottom! How does the person that sets up the group, Throwing UP Bricks, end up on the bottom? It's crap! The worst part is that I hate losing! and I totally am losing right now! Hopefully today and tomorrow will be better. My saving grace is that that at least I have the opportunity to have 14 teams going into the Sweet 16.

March Madness

My picks are in and I'm ready to win. The first time I played, I got my first cell phone! Since then I haven't been so lucky. So maybe this year is my year; even though my team isn't in! Wish me luck!

One Shinning Moment!

Really and that's all I needed...I picked the winner.

It doesn't matter that I went into the Final Four with only 2 picks, that I was something like 2 million something in rank, and at 54%....I just needed that one shinning moment in picking the winner and that is exactly what I did. I had UNC all along. I had faith in my team that won me the pool, the very first time I entered. There was no pool this year, buuuuut I had my brackets on ESPN instead.
I ended up with 1250 points, an 82.6%, and was ranked 805,225. Not bad, not bad! I'm pretty impressed with myself after last years dismal showing. So a big Congratulations to University of North Carolina Tar Heels.

Final Four

So I'm sitting here at the Final Four...with a 54.1% I've picked two of the Final Four teams. I'm doing well, but now as the first game is almost over I am slightly worried. One of my teams is going down. UConn has only 60 points and Mich Stat is at 71. with 3 min. left in the 2nd quarter. This is not good!!!!! I'm not so happy about this! What will happen?!?! Although really I only need one team in the the end. The team I picked to win it all, and it's not UConn, so I'm okay....right?

UCONN IS OUT!!!! NOW I ONLY HAVE ONE TEAM...HOPEFULLY THEY CAN WIN!

Brutal! But Still Good!

Although the weekend was brutal for my brackets, (I'm down to 35%) I really enjoyed myself at hula camp. This was the first hula camp that we learned all auwana songs- 2 fast and 2 slow. I'm enjoying them all, but trying to remember them tonight and tomorrow when I practice again is going to be work. By the end of hula camp, your brain is just mush. Every verse and every song is just meshing together and your body doesn't know what to do. All you want is a massage. We also added an implement into one song, which adds extra fun to any song.
At hula camp we are able to learn more about the songs (they come to life more- especially when you understand the hidden meanings) that we are dancing and our culture. It's also a great time for bonding.

PS My brackets aren't all bad. I have 11 teams going into the Sweet Sixteen and potentially I could have winners in all but one game, that for sure should give me more points and move me out of being ranked 3,006,950.

Today Killed ME!

Well my brackets more so...I was at 90% yesterday in my picks. I even had the upset of Illinois to W. Kentucky. Then today happened...my teams went down one after another: Boston College, West Virginia, Wake Forest, Ohio St, Florida St, Tennessee. It was horrible! I'm now down to 59% in my picks. Can anything save me? At least my final four teams are still in!

We'll see how the games go tomorrow.

The Brackets!

I'm so excited it's that time of year again.
March Madness!!!
I've got to get my brackets filled in before games start tomorrow! I've been watching all the "masters" deduce the games and predict who is going to win. I think I'll listen to them for some of my picks, but I'm also going to pick some long shots, because it only takes one shot and one point to win the game.
Good luck to all you hoop fans and may the best team win. Just a small fact- I have won the office pool before, which bought me my first cell phone. My team that won it all for me is back in and I'm banking on them to do it again! FYI they will not be wearing purple and gold!

National Champions

Congratulations KANSAS!

What a win.

Tonight is the Night!

Tonight is the night when all their dreams will come true. The sweat from the 4 hour long practices and the tears will finally mean something. All they have worked for all season will pay off and they will be titled National Champion.
But I could care less about tonight....because my team is
O-U-T!
I don't know what happened to my team, other than a loss that can only be categorized as stunning as Kansas outplayed UNC. The numbers can only tell the story:
Kansas had 17 assists, 19 turnovers, 9 blocked shots, 10 steals and were 5-15 from 3 point range where UNC had only 7 assists, a season low 27 first half points, 18 turnovers, 3 blocked shots, 3 steals and were 5-24 from 3 point range.

So this year, I ended my March Madness dream on Saturday, April 5th, with 360 points and only being 31% of a good picker, instead of tonight when the two teams will play for a National Championship. Boo!

It Happened!

The ESPN analyst predicted it, the tournament officials knew when they ranked the teams, but when has this ever happened, NEVER! All four number ones made it to the Final Four. I was hoping for Texas, but that is okay. Being 50% correct in my Final Four picks is okay for me. Yet, my two teams play each other, so I won't get two many points, but one of them is the team I want to take it all.

I also found it interesting that all the teams that made it to the Final Four have blue as one of their colors. The blue I will be rooting for is Carolina blue.

The Madness is ON!

The Washington State Cougars made it into the Sweet 16 and they are happy.I am happy too. Although I would like to see them win today, it would royally screw up my bracket because I have NC winning it all. The last time I entered a little pool with my bracket, they took it all and I got a nice chunck of change. We will have to see.

Madness of March

March has been moving along quickly, but there has been something missing. I could feel it. Not that with report cards, parent teacher conferences, working out, hula, 2 baby showers, 2 birthday parities, Lent, Easter and eating and sleeping there could be time for something to be missing but there has been.
It involves a select team of 64 that goes down to the Sweet 16, then to the Elite 8, then to the Final 4 and finally to a champion. It seems that this tournament seems to get later and later each each year. Selection Sunday is finally today and yet the Champion will not be crowned till the 7th of April. I wonder if March Madness will soon go away and we will be left with something like April Absurbness.
