White Water Rafting

My mom has become a Groupon fiend and has gotten us out doing a lot of different things. The latest was White Water Rafting on the Tieton River. It was just my mom and me that headed over to the Yakima area Saturday morning.  We were worried as the West Side was gloomy and sprinkling. Thank goodness once we made it over the pass, the sun came out and created a beautiful day for us.  We drove out to milepost 171 on Hwy 12 and found a sweet little set up. First up, get geared up- wet suit, helmet, paddle, life vest, and dry jacket.

Then get on the bus and we were dropped off at the location we were boating from.  They gave us a safety demo and then we found out whose boat we were in.  Luckily for my mom and I were in the head honchos boat, but that also meant that we were the first boat, so if we fell out, no one would be able to catch up to us or rescue us, because all the other boats would be behind us.  In our boat were three little men and three medium to large sized women.  The  men sat on one side and the women on the other.  Our guide came back and made some changes. I had to move on the side with the men and one of the men had to move to the other side.
Then we were off.  Boat in the water, people in the boat, and paddling away and down the river.  of course the water was no good for my camera, but there were some ladies taking photos on the side of the river.  They are posted online and you can check them out. I wasn't really down for paying $40 for a cd of 80-100 photos, so these are the ones I got.  Click on the lins below to see them or you can even purchase them.
