The Happenings in my Room

After 3 weeks of trying 3-ring binders in my classroom, I was done with them. I wanted to go back to spiral notebooks.  All the clicking and snapping and fit taking them forever to get things out of it and them not being able to find things in it. I / my teaching partner decided we were done with them.  So today we told the kids we were sending them home and they needed to take everything out of them and just save certain things. I then had to pass out new spiral notebooks. (Surprisingly, I had enough to give each kid 2 -I had been collecting them over the years!)
One of the students (a boy) was collecting spiral notebooks for an absent girl too.  I gave him one for her and then was looking for one to find for him.  The only one I had left was one with a picture of a girl in a bikini riding a dolphin (cartoon), so I called him over and told him to keep the one he had in his hand for him and give the one with the dolphin on it to the girl. He started at the spiral notebook and said nothing.  I repeated my comment to him again and he just kept staring.  Finally I said, "Well, unless you want the one with the dolphin on it..." He looked at me and in a deadpan voice said, "You've got to be kidding me!"
Oh, I love my kids.
