First day...With Kids

Last night I could hardly sleep, why? I have no clue.  Maybe, it was because today was the first day of school. Maaaybe.
I had everything ready in my class, well as ready as it was going to be anyway.  I've changed a lot as a teacher over the last night years. I used to be so anxious and had to have everything in order. Names on the desks, sticks made, all my posters up, entry tasks on desks, copies made, seating arrangements done, bulletin boards papered and bordered, a close to written out script of what I was going to say....all of that.
Now... bulletin boards are still done, sticks are made (with the names that I got on Monday- but have since changed) and that is a about it.  Crazy right!?!?! Well, I have 5th graders and they can help in a lot more ways then the 1st and 2nd graders.  Plus, I 'm a lot more laid back and not as worried about things, like I used to be.
So here's to the new year! My 9th year of teaching!
