It should have been joyous and fun and it was all but that...it started off good, I must say with a sweet round of golf only double boogieing twice. Then I got to school and I was at a dead sprint all morning with my students slightly working. Then our music teacher didn't have a sub, so needless to say the welcome break I thought I was going to be getting I didn't get as the students had no place to go, so they continued working and continued to get more and more restless as the work they were doing was hard and independent. I needed to work with each of them and there was only one of me and 28 of them...it really was a recipe for disaster especially with 4 of them thinking they can do and say anything they want, so I'm constantly putting out little fires and never really making it to all the kids and who really knows if all the kids are even really getting what they need.
I was spent before it was even 10 and I still had an hour and 1/2 with my kids and then I got another group for a 1/2 before lunch. It was rough. I tried to take them to the computer lab, for what I thought was open time, but someone had already taken it and didn't post it online. My kids were upset. I didn't know if I was going to be able to handle them until lunchtime, let alone after lunch.
Needless to say, 2 of the 4 that give me trouble were gone for the first half hour after lunch and then I had the other 2 pulled out to read with assistants. It was heaven in my room. Yet, it didn't stay that way for long as 1 of the 4 refused to read a book or follow directions, so I had to send him to the office. Luckily when 2 of them came back they were descent and we were out getting fresh air, so it worked. The rest of the afternoon wasn't too bad, but oh goodness, it's going to be a rough 8 days. I for sure will need some big prize at the end.
Hopefully the game tonight will take my mind off of it all!
