Wednesday Hodgepodge Vol. 116

1. My real life friends came through with another question this week so thank you real life friends. When you've eaten in a restaurant do you complete their comment card? Do you take online surveys highlighted at the bottom of store receipts?

Nope, none of the above.

2. The (US) ban on women in combat was lifted at the end of January. It will probably be next year before specifics are worked out, but its been reported over 200,000 front line positions will eventually open up to women.  Your thoughts?

I believe that women should have been able to be in combat for a long time and should have every opportunity that guys do.  Not that they have to take them, but women should have the option.

3.  In looking back at all the blog posts you've written, what's your favorite post title?

A Few Things That Didn't Stay in Vegas....

4. What's worse-overly permissive parents or overly protective parents?  Did your own parents lean more to the permissive or the protective category?  If you're a parent where do you fall?

I think overly protective parents are the worse. Kids need to have some freedom to go about and make mistakes and learn from them.  If their parents are too protective then kids aren't able to learn, they don't learn what they need too.  My parents let me have enough freedom to learn things, but not too much.

5.  Candlelight-moonlight-firelight-bright lights in the big city...which one's your favorite?

Firelight.  Love being by the fire and even the smell of it. It reminds me of many wonderful nights camping and roasting marshmallows.

6. Dr. Seuss's birthday was celebrated on Saturday. What's a favorite book you remember (Seuss or otherwise) from your own childhood?  Did books play an important role in your growing up years? Explain.

As a child I loved One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish and then Oh the Places You Will Go after I grew up of my favorite books.  They didn't really play a big role in my growing up, but since I'm a teacher I tend to lean on those books a lot.

7.  To quote Dr. Seuss...

"From there to here, and here to there, funny things are everywhere."
from One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish

Share something funny you've recently read, seen or heard.

Recently I had a kid, who was 5, tell me a joke:
Knock, knock
Whose there?
Idaho who?
Ida walk a 1000 miles to be with you.
8.  Insert your own random thought here.

Walking into work and getting yelled at by kids and other adults really puts me into a bad mood.  I wish people would realize what they are saying and their tone really does effect how other people take them.

I'm going to have to check out the Vegas post. Sounds intriguing : )

Have a nice weekend...and amen to your random thought!
