Wednesday Hodgepodge Vol. 109

1. Lake Superior University has once again published a list of words/phrases they think should be banished from the Queen's English...here's the list for 2013- fiscal cliff, kick the can down the road, double down, job creators/creation, passion/passionate, yolo (an acronym for you only live once), spoiler alert, bucket list, trending, superfood, boneless wings, and guru
Which of these words/phrases would you most like to see banished from everyday speech and why. Go here to read more about how the words were chosen.
I choose yolo.  I actually have never heard of it and find it ridiculous that people would use it. I find speaking and sending texts in acronym's ridiculous too.
2.  When was the last time you rode a train?  Where did you go?

Ahh, I think it was last summer. There is a train that goes to downtown Seattle that I take when I want to go shopping down there or when I want to see the Mariners play.  It is super cheap and an easy way to travel.

3. Bagels-yay or nay?  Favorite 'flavor'?  Favorite topping?

Yah! Toasted with cream cheese please.  I used to be a big blueberry fan, but now I'm more of an onion, everything, sesame seed kinda girl.

4.  'Tis the season of awards shows...if you could star in a movie already made which one would you choose?

Hmmm, I think I would want to be in a movie with Channing Tatum.  Probably the first Step Up movie.  We would get to dance all over the place fall in love.

5. The move towards single gender classrooms has been making the news in recent months....what say you?  Do you think kids perform better if seperated by gender and are taught differently or is that discrimination?  If you're a parent, is this something you'd support in regard to your own children?

I believe that students need to be in classrooms that look like the real world.  They need to learn to interact with each other and work with each other.  When I grew up, I was in a gender specific class for gym and although it was nice not have boys in it, I really missed the added competition that they brought to the class.

6. What's your favorite thing about staying in a hotel?

Jumping on the bed when you first get there and then watching tv in bed.

7. Do you have a 'word' for 2013?  What's the story behind your choice?

No word for 2013.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

I've started a new workout program and I totally love it.  It has replaced my morning workouts as I don't have Blue back yet...but maybe tomorrow.

A lot of people have blueberry as their favorite bagel. I don't think I've ever had one. Must be a new thing.
I see you have my fitness pal in your sidebar. I'm on there too, tracking my food and exercise and trying to lose weight ;)
