Nope, my guess is that it has something with celebrating the people who labor. I'm currently "laboring" over getting my classroom and planning ready for the kids tomorrow. I had already put in 6 hours finishing my move and setting up my classroom and today I did planning with my teammate and then finished up with name tags and a few bulletin boards. It is a true labor of love as I put in another 7.5 hours.
2. Labor Day also signals the unofficial end of summer for most of us...what summer food will you miss the most? If you're in the southern hemisphere feel free to substitute winter for summer.
I love summer food so much that I eat most of it year round, but I think I will miss corn on the cob and watermelon the most. I love both so much and now I have to wait for them to come back.

3. A well known proverb states, 'It's easier to seek forgiveness than ask permission.' Your thoughts?
I think that it's true in some situations only not in all. There are times at work, that instead of waiting for days on end for an answer or having to listen to a reply for hours that never really has an answer in it to just do it and then ask for forgiveness later.
4. Food critic, film critic, book critic, art critic....which hat would you most like to wear?
Food, I think, I like all of the things, but I think I would love trying lots of different foods the most.

5. When you were a kid, who (besides your parents) was your favorite adult?
Favorite adult, there are so many, but really favorite means 1. I would have to say my Uncle Mel and Aunty Julie. They have been apart of my life forever and are great examples of responsible citizens, a loving couple, and crazy fun people.

6. The astronaut, Neil Armstrong, passed away last week. He was regarded as a hero by many generations of people all around the world. Do we still have modern day heroes? What makes someone a hero?
I think we have modern day heroes, but I think many of them are heroes because they score touchdowns, shoot hoops, star in movies or tv, or make youtube videos . Heroes should be people who do extraordinary things that help people.

7. I never get tired of summer weather. I love it way too much to ever leave it, which really tells me I need to move to a hotter place rather than living here in the PNW.
8. Insert your own random thought here. I'm ready for school. It's going to be a busy, but fun year. I can't wait.

Hope you have a great year...what grade do you teach? My youngest is working on her Masters right now and is teaching 5th grade this term. She always thought she wanted the younger and student taught in grade 2 last year, but I have encouraged her to think about the older elementary grades. She is so good with kids that age. She is loving it so far!
Joyce, I'm teaching 5th grade this year. It's my first year and I'm a bit nervous. I have been teaching the little kids (1st and 2nd) and now am up in 4th and 5th. I hope your daughter enjoys 5th grade. I will be interested to see what she thinks about it.
