Happenings in My Classroom

I forget how words in 2nd and 1st grade mean nothing, but now in 4th it's a totally different. One of the authors this week was named Dick something or other and every time I said his name, one kid would giggle which would set a bunch of other kids off. Then one of the things I asked the kids to do this week was dictate the sentences. Yet again more giggling. Especially when I had to explain what the word meant, using the word over and over again.
Then later one in the week, the kid that started the giggling with the word dick, needed me to spell embarrass for him. You know exactly what happened when I got to the last three letters of the word.
