It's Here! In Kent! It's Crazy! The Seattle Thunderbirds have moved to Kent, if you didn't already know! The city has built them their very own stadium that is just the right size for the amount of people that they bring in. It's going to get used for more than just hockey, concerts, dog and pony shows, but it's main purpose is hockey.
On Opening Night, I was given some great tickets from Dee, so Cassie and I went and took in some hockey. We also thought we would join Dee and her family at dinner at the RAM. We went at 4:00 (The game started at 7) and there was already a 2 hour wait. We ended up at Dukes Chowder House by 4:30 and they were telling people that they were full for the rest of the night with the reservations they had already taken. We ate, did some shopping at the Station and then headed over. The seats were amazing. Dee and Steve, her husband, are hosting one of the T-birds this season and got season tickets to go and watch him, Jeremy(#32), play.
The game was pretty fast with the T-birds scoring 4 goals. The Everett Silvertips didn't score until there was about 4 min. left in the game and then they went on to score 3 points. Time was not on the Silvertips side (although it seemed like the referees were) as they ended up coming up one short...Oh So Sad!
We rushed out of the parking lot as to not hit traffic and made it to our bar in no time.
I'm slightly worried about the increased traffic we will see on game nights, but so far it hasn't been that bad. I'm sure that the Kent Station and other downtown businesses are loving it all.
