Thankfulness Day 26

Today I'm thankful for the job I have that provides me with great laughs, amazing friends, and an opportunity to affect the future.

My kids have been hilarious lately.  We've been discussing how you can figure out what someone is saying or what an author has written (by using context clues.)  So as we were discussing on of the examples I said was "I'm hot!" That got a bunch of laughter.  But then I continued with the sentence, "I just ran 2 miles."  Many said, "Oh" while others nodded their head thinking "Oh yeah, Ms. Chock, you aren't hot!"  then I said, "I'm hot! I'm wearing my skinny jeans today and my Tap Out shirt." Of course the giggles hit again.
I asked them how would know, which hot I meant?  They all kind of stared at me, until a small little hand was raised and a student said, "By the other words that are around it."
I said, "Yes, that is called context clues.  We've been studying it since the start of school."
And all I got was more head nods.
