This week as I was correcting a test my students had taken, I came across a super funny answer to a question and answer:
Demetri’s parents are putting a fence around their rectangular garden. The garden is 10 feet wide and 12 feet long. They have 50 feet of fencing material. Do they have enough material to build a fence around the entire garden?
-the student drew a picture of the garden and then wrote this-
Yes, because I multiplied 12 and 10 and I got 130 so that’s why I said no.
-the test then asked the students again, and they had to write their answer.
Do they have enough material to build a fence around the entire garden? Yes.
I laughed and laughed at this answer and wondered what this student was thinking. Then as I was typing this I realized that the Yeses used to be Nos that she had erased. I'm gonna have to check and make sure that she didn’t try to just cheat!
UPDATE: She said she wasn't cheating, but she did change her answer before it was corrected and didn't read it to make sure it made sense. Oh my students!
