What's Happening in My Classroom

What a week! It seems to be going so fast, but we aren't getting anything done. My kids are super slow at everything. Slow writers, slow colorers, slow testers, slow water drinkers, slow readers, just plain slow. Today I had finally had enough and told the students who hadn't finished their project, they had to take it home and do it for homework!
I think their slowness might have a little bit to do with the weather. My classroom roasts! There is no airflow at all. I have three fans going at all times and all it does is push the hot air around. I'm on the south side of the building with windows that open to a roof that sits in the sun, roasting, all day long. I end the day with a sweaty butt, back and armpits. My students are glistening and starting to smell. YUCK!
This the is the first and only time I will say this, I wish it was cooler! So my students won't stink and maybe they will pick up their work speed and get some work done.

-Oh and guess what? The district has decided they want to train us all on our science curriculum (thank you for the training and clock hours) on the 10th of September! Really, school district!?!?! Teachers should never be gone in September or October! Students don't know the rules yet. They don't know the routines. They will be crazy for any sub and then crazy for us when we come back! Could we wait at least a few more weeks?
