Firecracker 5000

It's the only midnight race (run/walk) in Seattle and it happens at 11:55pm on the 3rd of July in downtown Seattle.

My girlfriends convinced me to do it with them the night before the race began. I wasn't really into it until I found out that the shirt was glow in the dark,

then I was all in.
There were 5 of us that competed in it. Before it started, we talked about walking it and running it. When the gun went off to start the race, everyone in front of us was running, so I took off too not knowing where everyone else was. Once we got out of the stadium, I slowed down and found everyone. 2 people said they were going to walk, 2 started off running, and I was stuck in the middle. I didn't want to go slow, but I couldn't run that fast, so I walked fast. Lucky for me the runners slowed down and I caught up to them thinking we could all go together, but then they slowed down even more. At that point I decided I didn't want to have a slow time and I didn't want the streets to be opened before I finished, so I took off walking and some (very very little) walking.
Finally I came to the finish line and I was sooo super glad. My time wasn't posted until days later and I actually am really proud of myself for the time and pace, but not so much for the finisher place out of everyone. But I finished, so I guess that should be good enough right!!!
I finished at 48:48. My pace was 15:45. My place was 1,598 out of 1,657 out of the whole race. And I know that not everyone's time was calculated, because one of my friends lost her chip, so therefore it's at least 1,658. My pace out of my division was 266 out of 271.

48:48 for a 5K is good when you weren't prepared - faster than me! LOL
