Happenings in My Classroom

At the beginning of Reading, my students are asked to write in their Wonder Notebook. They can write anything they feel, wonder, or think for 4 min. Plus they can't stop writing the whole time. My hope is to get them to write at least 1/2 a page if not more.
Typically the students are writing about what they are doing after school or what their parents are doing. One girl wrote about the future and what she thought might happen in the future and now many of the kids are writing about it. The other day though, a girl wrote a shout out to the girls of the class about how the boys are annoying and we should all know that. -I say they can write anything they want, so does she get in trouble? No, I just let all the kid's mouths drop and stare at me to see what I'm going to do about it. I tell them to put their hands together for her. And they clap.-
But the best was when I had one of my boys come up and share and he wrote about how cool I was and how he loved being in my class!!! I've never had them write about me, but I thought it was really amazing. He is such a sweet boy! Since then only one other girl wrote about me.
