Happenings in My Classroom

One of the big things that get on my nerves at school, is having my name called out. And what is even more irritating is that it's usually repeated over and over again until I answer, because many of them simply don't figure out that I'm ignoring them until they follow correct procedures, which is raising their hand in their desk! They figure I will just answer them, interrupting a different conversation I'm having (which probably works at home, but not at school)
One day I got so tired of it and told them if they keep yelling my name out, I'm not going to answer until they call me Beautiful Queen. They all giggled and we moved on.
Well, along came my birthday and I was calling on kids to give me their lunch orders. I tell them good morning and they are supposed to answer back with, "Good morning, Ms. Chock. I will have number 1, 2, 3, or 4." Well that day the first kid I called on just told me what he wanted for lunch. I said, "Really?" And then he changed his response to "Good morning Beautiful Queen, I will have number 4. All the kids laughed and it made my day.
