Softball

I first started playing on a team when I was in 4th grade. It was a co-ed team that allowed kids of all ages from our school, my sister who is three years younger was on the team, out to get some exercise, hit some balls, hopefully catch some, and run some bases. I played for another 3 years moving from the co-ed elementary team to an all girl middle school team and then to a select team. I started playing catcher, then I was moved out to left and right field. I stopped playing in high school, but picked it up again during college on a co-ed team again. We had a great time, even though we weren't always winning.
I'm now playing again on a co-ed team started by the head secretary at our school. I started out in left center, then to right field, and now I'm in at catcher. I thought it would be a great new way to get out and get some exercise, so far....welllll our team has been outmatched by other teams that are playing down a league or two so they can get the "W" It's super frustrating when you are getting beaten by more than 20 points and the games are ending in the 5 inning, when we are supposed to play 7. I don't understand these other teams! Why can't they stay in a league that has opponents that are of equal caliber, rather than a team that is out for fun!
So far we are 0-4, but last night we finally played a team that was out for the same thing as us...FUN! It was in their name Here For The Beer, now how can you not like a team like that. We stayed pretty even with them in runs, but with the score tied 6-6 they came out in the bottom of the 6th and scored 5 runs making the score 6-11 them. All we had to do was score 5 runs in the top of the 7th, but with me striking out (boo!) and two more outs that followed quickly, we were done! Oh well there is always next week Monday!
