Date Night with Dad

When my sister and I were younger, my parents did a great job of making sure we got to spend "special" time with each parent. Each of us would get to pick the activity to do with our parent and off we would go to the movies, dinner, roller skating, anything we wanted-although I'm sure we never wanted more than the time we got to spend with each parent alone!

So my dad for Christmas this year brought back date night, although this time it was just with him. He gave us a card to fill out and return to him with what we wanted to do and when we wanted to do it. Technically it could be anything, but being practically minded as both my sister and I are-we never thought BIG! although my mom was slightly worried, and I tried for a ticket to Hawaii, but that didn't seem to work.

My sister went for a painting party. She was in the process of painting her kitchen and stairway and decided it would be fun for my dad to help her. So they painted!

I decided I wanted to go see the Mariners (actually I wanted to see the Yankees), so last Thursday night my dad and I were off to the stadium. He was excited and so was I; eventhough, it was raining. We had dinner at Yaks (yummy manapua and yakisoba) before we tried to find a spot that was close so we didn't get wet walking in the rain and didn't pay an arm and leg. We ended up paying $7 and the walk wasn't so bad, because the rain had stopped.

Upon entering the stadium, we walked around and took in all the sights. (My dad had never been there.) Our seats were up in the left field bleachers, but my dad wasn't feeling good, so after sitting there awhile, he went down to the 100 level. He didn't come up for a long time, so I went and joined him. He had found some closer seats to the field and the bathroom. We sat there and watched the demise of the Mariners! I was super happy that Jeter hit a homerun, although I didn't catch it on my camera. Oh well, I was for sure lovin the 11-1!
