The first beach we ventured to was Manhattan Beach. We looked all for it, but didn't find it right away, so we went to the first beach we found: Hermosa Beach. On the way there we thought it would be nice to have a cooler with some cold drinks in it as well as some snacks, so we stopped off and got just that. We put it in the car along with some ice and we were off. As we were coming off of the freeway, I had to slam on the brakes and we both heard the cooler topple over. I was a bit sad, but realized all we really had to do was pick it all up when we found a spot to park. We found a spot and headed to the trunk. I picked up the cooler and discovered that the cooler hadn't just tipped over, but it had blown out one of the sides. Our cooler now only had three walls. Cassie scooped out the ice and I put the drinks in a bag. We cleaned out the car and were off to do some looking around at the cute shops. After a bit of shopping I realized that we didn't put money in the meter, so I went looking for Cassie. I found her about 10min later and we headed to one more store, before we went out to feed the meter. Once we got out there, we realized we were doing some philanthropy work and donating some money to the town of Hermosa Beach! Boo!
We went to La Jolla beach on the way down to San Diego. After driving around many of the sides streets, we found an amazing parking spot. The beach and water were full of people, so we decided to put our suits (changing with a small audience is always fun!) on and do a little swimming of our own. It was a short walk to the beach, where we laid out our $2.99 towels and relaxed. I jumped in the water, but didn't realize how cold the water was going to be when I got in. I should have realized it when the people that were in the water were mostly kids. Oh well! I got wet and tried to do some body surfing before I was frozen and then came back to my book and warmed up in the sun.
