And really it was waaaaay more than just opening day, it was the day that Seattle welcomed back Junior! Even before his name was mentioned, people were on their feet, cheering louder than they ever had before. And when it finally was the cheers got even louder. He quickly jogged down the red carpet to the rest of the team and began the high fiving of each man in line. The cheering continued, so much so that Beltre ran out to the cheering for Junior. It was insane.
The cheering and the standing "o's" continued throughout the game for Junior, but lucky for us there were other things to cheer for as well, such as scoring in the first inning as well as scoring Gutierrez off a bunt from Betancourt and to win the home opener 3-2 in the 10th inning.
I will also have to say that watching this game was pretty amazing from where we sat. A wonderful surprise from Cassie's mom, put all of us in the the Suite seats thanks to Clearwater Casino. I'd never sat up there and although it was a little cold up there, we had a great time. There was an over abundance of food, (sandwiches, hot dogs, chicken strips, mini corn dogs, fruit, vegetables, and salad) beverages, (beer, water, soda, and ice tea) and super cushy seats. I ate and drank until my heart was content and then had some more. I for sure would sit up there again, but would hope for a warmer day.
