Photo Class

After shooting for over 2 years now with my fancy dancy Nikon D-50 and D-200, I thought it was time to take a photography class to see if there were more things I could learn to help my pictures pop off the page more.
-one of the tools the teacher used to help us framing a picture to leave out the garbage can and the dead plant.

The class was put on by the Kent Parks and Rec and taught by Ron Meeker. He did a great job of talking about concepts and letting us take time to go out and practice before he tackled a new subject. Although most of the things he talked about in the morning was stuff I already did, it was the how behind it and not just the guessing that I had been doing. So now I have a more complete and working knowledge of aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and over and underexposing pictures. The afternoon time was more of how to compose a picture, which I already do and understand what I like, so I quickly lost interest in the afternoon, so I took a pic of my pen.
I would recommend this class and others that he will teach throughout the summer for beginning photographers (Aunty-here is a class you can take.)
Here are some of the practice shots. We did a lot of nature photography and only a bit of people, which my big interest, so most of the shots will be of the beautiful Northwest.
