The 30 or so kids that I was supposed to have, have never shown. I am sitting at 25 right now, with 11 girls and 14 boys. (Not as bad as I thought it would be.) 25 is still a lot. Our school is over projected for kids right now and we will be getting more teachers to alleviate the bigger classes, but it will also mean split classes. It should be interesting as to who ends up teaching them and at what grades they are in. We will just have to wait and see especially because we all know our principle isn't really quick to hire.
Going back to hula this week was fun to see all my best friends again. We worked hard on ka'os on Tuesday and hopefully my practice this week will show. Thursday is starting a new dance, and working on two old ones. Should be fun! One is with an uli uli and we all know how much skill I have in that department.
After running errands on Saturday and going up to school for a couple of hours, Tami came down and we went out to Sherry's bar. We had a great time and I ended up meeting a guy who is old friends with a family friend that I grew up with. It was weird. He was talking about natural ointments from the islands and things he had done and I was telling him I knew about that. He said that many islanders didn't know about that stuff and then asked me if I knew the Ribellias. I said Yes and then we were off talking about them. It was crazy. Today Tami and I went and put our photography skills to use in Enumclaw. Photos will follow.
My photos are also starting to get some recognition. I entered two in the 2008 Great West Photo Contest for Relay For Life and although I didn't win top three I was recognized in the top 25. I also took a bunch in to get developed at Camera's West in Tukwilla and the lady who was developing them their took time to complement me on my photos and tell me that she would love to see them blown up. Plus she wants to see more of my work getting printed there. Yes, it could have all been a ploy for more business, but I think she was serious.
This week, Dee, DCA (the newPTA) President, stopped me and told me I was looking really fashionable and I told her it was the first week of school and all teachers did. Come back about 3 weeks from now and you will for sure see a change. So I thought it would be fun to share with everyone how fashionable I looked this week.

Glad you enjoyed your first week. I liked the first week, but felt slightly overwhelmed (which is to be expected I suppose).
Dee was right - you were very fashionable last week!
Wow... hot mama!!! You look great!!! I think in two of your photos you were going for the sexy teacher look, glasses on, hair pulled back. Huh... someone there you trying to impress?? Just kidding! Love you and miss you!
Looking good!!! We should totally get together soon!
