30-Day Policy and Cingular

I'm not so happy...and it all has to do with Cingular and their 30 day policy. I first got my cell phone from the Cingular store located in Federal Way, WA, and was super happy with the customer service I received there. They were friendly and very helpful with all my questions.

2 years later, my contract was up and I finally got to purchase a new phone. I decided to go to the closest Cingular store to me located in Tukwila, WA just to LOOK and was pushed and shoved to BUY a phone. Not a phone that only offered me the basic features, although that was all I wanted, but one that could take pictures, play music, and take videos. I went along with it knowing that I did need a new phone, but didn't really feel comfortable with it. One of the perks was that I was going to get it in red, but they didn't have the red ones in stock. I was given a black one and told repeatedly that they would contact me when the red ones came in so I could come in and exchange it. I didn't really worry about it until there was no call and no call, and still no call. I finally went back into the store because I figured I was getting pretty close to the 30th day date.

The store was packed out at 8:15pm. I wasn't helped right away, but was greeted by one of the sales associates and asked to wait to be helped. In the meantime of waiting, I saw the guy who promised to call, but he ran right back into the room that hides all the associates from angry customers. When I looked back to the counter, there was a young lady standing there ready to help me. I told her I would like to return my black phone for a red one and she asked if all I would like to do is exchange and I said yes, then she asked if it was within my 30 days. I told her yes. I opened the bag looking for the receipt and couldn't find it. I knew that it was in there, but as I looked the lady asked for my phone number. I gave her one, but the one I gave her was one I give to people who I don't really want to call me. So I giggled to myself and had to tell her the other one. I think this might of put her off, because she thought I was laughing at her. She found my account and snottily replied to me, "Your ONE day over your 30-days." I told her that HER store told me repeatedly that they would call me when the red one was in, but I never recieved a call and then her snotty tone continued, "Well, it's REALLY your responsibility to keep up with us." I couldn't believe her! And yet she continued, "I'll give it to you this time , but next time you need to make sure you exchange your items within the 30-days."

Oh my! I was glad to get my phone, but I will for sure never be going back to the TUKWILA, WA Cingular Store.
