I remember that day like it was yesterday and can't believe how much has changed because of it. I was far away from my family just getting used to my new one. I had went down the gym to workout before work. ( I didn't listen to the radio on my drive, because I am usually still trying to wake up) There was a tv on in the locker room as I changed into my swimsuit. I saw what looked like some war going on and in my head I said, it must be some far off country, little did I know an hour later when I went back into the locker room, I would finally realize that it was America and that something big had happened. The towers were down, two more planes had tried to attack other places and it seemed like our world was forever changing. And it did that day...Looking back on the five years that have passed and all the changes that we have made in our country I worry about what will happen in the future. Will the war we are fighting now ever be finished? Will we ever feel completely secure again? Will we always remember?
I took the time today to talk about it with my students and read a book about Philippe who walked between the towers in 1974, when they were being built. I know they don't understand it, but I do know one day they will and they too will remember.
