My Job at Mai Kahiki Mai

It was going to be an easy and fun time for me. I was supposed to sell t-shirts until someone else couldn't make their position and then I was asked to move into it. It was the tally room (ie the place where they count the votes and winning is decided). It seemed pretty harmless enough, until I realized the hopes and aspirations of the young ladies dancing landed on my shoulders as I was not only counting up the scores, but I was the HEAD of the tally room. I even had to "meet" with Kumu to get my orders, well a walking thru of what it should look like, and how well and efficient it should run. The more I talked with him the more nervous I got, although I answered him with confidence and coolness.(At least that is what my voice sounded like when it came out, although inside it was scared)
The crazy thing was that there was nothing to be nervous about, my team did amazing work and made my job easy. It flowed and the scores were done both nights before the last intermission song played, so they were ready to go. There were a couple of times that we second guessed ourselves, but everything worked. The only thing that worried me at that point was Kumu's facial expressions when he was reading off the awards, because I thought I might have tallied something wrong...There goes that over thinking again.
So overall it was a good experience, eventhough I worried. I told the ladies that if they would come back with me next year I would too. They said yes, so now if Kumu says yes, we are in. The wonderful ladies that worked with me.
