As we continue to grow our friendships change and grow and as I attended Darcy's wedding this weekend, it meant another one of our group was married off and we were never going to see her again...not not going to see her again, but it would just would be different. We all met in 2002 when we first started our masters program through EWU and the Kent School District. Doug, Darcy, Colin, and I were all living at home after completing our Bachelor Degrees in different fields all wanting to teach and get the most out of the program that we could. Who would have known that the best thing we would get out of our program would have been the friendship that we forged and continue to foster during the wonderful days of summer and the hairorring days of September and October.
We took classes together for a year and a half straight and throughout that time we made many coffee runs, lunch dates, ran errands, laughed at each other, spent holidays together, and watched out for each other. Then we were put out on our own to go and find our way and while the boys both got jobs, Darcy and I subbed and hung out, which was a good thing, because we got to see through what was happening with the boys what we did and didn't want to do. Namely we didn't want to be put on a plan, although the reward was outstanding. The following year Darcy got a job at the same school as Doug and I got a job at the same school as Colin, so finally we were all working and "loving" our jobs. We continue to make time for each other and share all of our wonderful stories with each other and sometimes wonder where we would be without one another, then we just laugh and realize we would be nowhere and life wouldn't be as special as it is with all of us in each others lives.
